The Congressional App Challenge is excited to announce our Back to School webinar series. This series of webinars, hosted in conjunction with supporters of the program, will provide free training and mentorship opportunities for App Challengers past and present and will take place through the fall.

This session will serve as our official welcome to the Back to School Webinar Series. The opening will include special welcome messages from Members of Congress and supporters of the program.

Challengers will then be joined by Apple Education to learn about the fast-growing app economy and the tools and techniques that produce great apps. You’ll hear about Swift, an intuitive and open source programming language that’s easy to learn, yet powerful enough to make the some of the most popular apps on the App Store. And, you’ll learn about free resources from Apple to help you use Swift, Xcode, and the app design process that professional developers use to make apps for iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS and beyond.

If you are a middle or high school student interested in creating mobile applications and wondering how to protect, brand and pitch your game or app to investors, then join the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for an exciting workshop on patent, trademark and copyright protection. Participants will learn a unique 5-step process that helps move mobile apps from conception to creation. The method helps young inventors to create (Appchat), design (cAPPtivate), evaluate (AppPoll), develop (InstaApp) and pitch app concepts to investors (AppSellnTell). The virtual event will be fun and educational, so join the USPTO team and learn how to imagine, design and develop a new app.

The Alumni Advisory Board of the Congressional App Challenge hosted an Office Hours session for over 100 App Challengers on October 15th. This session will paired current participants one-on-one with members of our alumni advisory board to help them finalize their applications. Topics were selected by participants and ranged from pitch and presentation to troubleshooting across coding languages.
