Eulearn wins Rep. Salud Carbajal’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge in California’s 24th District

Rep. Salud Carbajal has named Neil Sharangpani and Ethan Ding of Dos Pueblos High School as the winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in California’s 24th District. Their app Eulearn provides complete, step-by-step explanations for regular, parametric, and polar integration problems, emulating the reasoning of a human tutor.

When asked what inspired the creation of Eulearn, the students said, “Both my partner and I took dual enrollment calculus courses and completed the AP Calculus BC exam, each scoring a 5. While preparing for the exam and working to strengthen our weak areas, we noticed a lack of comprehensive resources. Wolfram Alpha required a paid subscription to view step-by-step solutions, limiting our ability to understand the reasoning behind answers. Popular free tools like MathWay, Integral Calculator, and Symbolab did not support polar or parametric integrals, which many students find the most challenging units. Students often turned to ChatGPT, but it frequently provided incorrect answers for more complex problems and proved unreliable overall.

“This inspired us to create Eulearn, a one-stop platform for AP Calculus support. The app offers detailed, step-by-step explanations for every major integration method, including full support for polar and parametric integrals. To address ChatGPT’s limited graphing capabilities, Eulearn incorporates embedded Desmos graphs with highlighted areas, allowing students to directly visualize what they are calculating.

“Another gap we identified was practice material. Although past AP free response questions are available, short multiple-choice style questions, which comprise half of the exam, are harder to find and typically require purchasing expensive test prep books. To solve this, we included a question bank with over 300 practice problems, organized by difficulty and problem type.

“Overall, Eulearn combines the accuracy of professional tools like Wolfram Alpha with the depth of a human tutor, creating a free comprehensive resource for Calculus students. It provides clear explanations, interactive visualizations, and targeted practice, making it easier for students to master integration and improve their confidence in all problem types.”

The 2025 Congressional App Challenge marked another record-setting year for the program. A total of 394 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives hosted App Challenges in their congressional districts, the highest level of participation in the program’s history. More than 13,800 students from across the country participated, submitting over 4,600 original apps focused on real-world challenges ranging from health and accessibility to education, sustainability, and civic engagement.

The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives that encourages middle school and high school students to learn to code, explore computer science, and build practical technology solutions for their communities. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and winning teams are invited to showcase their projects to Members of Congress, staff, and industry leaders at the annual #HouseOfCode celebration on Capitol Hill.

The Challenge is proudly bipartisan and reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to STEM education and preparing the next generation of American innovators for the future workforce. The program is a public-private partnership made possible through funding from the Broadcom Foundation, AWS, Infosys Foundation USA, theCoderSchool, Apple, and others.

The 2026 Congressional App Challenge will launch in May, and eligible students can pre-register for the competition now.
