GET THE WORD OUT!
Students can only submit apps to the Congressional App Challenge if their Member of Congress has signed up to host a contest in their district.
If a Member of Congress has not decided to host an App Challenge this year, students are encouraged to contact their Representative via telephone, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email, or regular mail. Feel free to use the template below!
Be sure to share your outreach efforts with our Congressional Operations Coordinator, Jack West.
Dear Representative [REP NAME],
I am a teacher at [ SCHOOL NAME ], located at [ SCHOOL ADDRESS ], within your district. I am writing to you, to ask you to participate in the Congressional App Challenge (CAC), a coding competition for U.S. students.
The CAC is as an excellent way to highlight and support students in your district who are pursuing knowledge in coding and computer science fields. The jobs in these fields are high-paying and high-demand roles, vital to the long-term success of America’s economy. The CAC will showcase the computer science education and talent in your district, and the winner will be featured on a display in the Capitol building.
Participating in the Congressional App Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for students, and for this reason, I ask that you opt in so that our students may also take advantage of that opportunity
I know that your office is very busy serving its constituents, but the staff at the Challenge sponsor, the Internet Education Foundation, will handle much of the Challenge administration.
To learn more and to sign up to participate in the CAC, please visit www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us. You can also email the CAC Congressional Operations Coordinator at [email protected] for more information.
Thank you so much for your assistance and your service.
