InformER wins Rep. Austin Scott’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Georgia’s Eighth District
Rep. Austin Scott has named Aarin Dave and Aarav Dave of Lowndes High School as the winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Georgia’s Eighth District. Their app InformER is a digital communication tool designed for the fast-paced environment of the emergency room.
When asked what inspired the creation of InformER, the students said, “The idea for InformER came from our volunteer experience at SGMC Health, where we saw how hard it can be to share critical patient information in the emergency room. Paramedics often rushed in with patients while trying to explain important details. In the fast pace and noise of the ER, that information was often lost or misunderstood. Even small lapses in communication could lead to serious mistakes. We also noticed that hospitals often rely on handwritten notes to share vital updates, such as patient conditions or safety instructions. These notes can fall off, be misplaced, or quickly become outdated. Seeing this problem made us realize the need for a clear, reliable, and modern way to display key information. We learned that medical errors are one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Reading studies from the NIH about the potential of digital displays reinforced our belief that technology could help solve this issue. From these experiences, we created InformER. Our goal was simple. We wanted to make emergency rooms safer, clearer, and more efficient by giving providers instant access to the information they need most.”
The 2025 Congressional App Challenge marked another record-setting year for the program. A total of 394 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives hosted App Challenges in their congressional districts, the highest level of participation in the program’s history. More than 13,800 students from across the country participated, submitting over 4,600 original apps focused on real-world challenges ranging from health and accessibility to education, sustainability, and civic engagement.
The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives that encourages middle school and high school students to learn to code, explore computer science, and build practical technology solutions for their communities. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and winning teams are invited to showcase their projects to Members of Congress, staff, and industry leaders at the annual #HouseOfCode celebration on Capitol Hill.
The Challenge is proudly bipartisan and reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to STEM education and preparing the next generation of American innovators for the future workforce. The program is a public-private partnership made possible through funding from the Broadcom Foundation, AWS, Infosys Foundation USA, theCoderSchool, Apple, and others.
The 2026 Congressional App Challenge will launch in May, and eligible students can pre-register for the competition now.
