Profit Pro wins Rep. Kevin Hern’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Oklahoma’s First District.
Rep. Kevin Hern has named Talha Asif of Jenks High School as the winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Oklahoma’s First District. Their app Profit Pro is a comprehensive web-based financial literacy platform designed to empower youth and underserved communities with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to take control of their financial futures.
When asked what inspired the creation of Profit Pro, Talha Asif said, “I was inspired to create Profit Pro after witnessing firsthand how the lack of financial literacy devastates students and families in my community. In my surrounding schools, I noticed peers graduating without understanding even the basics, such as loans, interest, investing, or budgeting, leaving them vulnerable to debt, financial mistakes, and lost opportunities. I saw bright, talented young people trapped by circumstances simply because they weren’t equipped with the knowledge to navigate their financial futures. These gaps weren’t just abstract problems; they were real struggles, impacting confidence, independence, and life trajectories. I realized that if I could create a tool that made financial education accessible, interactive, and practical, I could prevent countless avoidable mistakes and empower youth to make informed decisions early. Profit Pro transforms learning into action: the stock simulator lets users experiment safely, the calculators model real-world consequences, and the trivia makes the lessons engaging and memorable. Together, these modules provide the kind of guidance that students in my community are often denied, turning abstract concepts into tangible skills that can shape real lives. The inequities I saw locally fuel my commitment: I want every student, regardless of background, to have the chance to thrive financially and make choices that open doors rather than close them.”
The 2025 Congressional App Challenge marked another record-setting year for the program. A total of 394 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives hosted App Challenges in their congressional districts, the highest level of participation in the program’s history. More than 13,800 students from across the country participated, submitting over 4,600 original apps focused on real-world challenges ranging from health and accessibility to education, sustainability, and civic engagement.
The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives that encourages middle school and high school students to learn to code, explore computer science, and build practical technology solutions for their communities. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and winning teams are invited to showcase their projects to Members of Congress, staff, and industry leaders at the annual #HouseOfCode celebration on Capitol Hill.
The Challenge is proudly bipartisan and reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to STEM education and preparing the next generation of American innovators for the future workforce. The program is a public-private partnership made possible through funding from the Broadcom Foundation, AWS, Infosys Foundation USA, theCoderSchool, Apple, and others.
The 2026 Congressional App Challenge will launch in May, and eligible students can pre-register for the competition now.
