ScholarSite wins Rep. Christopher Deluzio’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Pennsylvania’s 17th District.
Rep. Christopher Deluzio has named Kavin Puri of North Allegheny Senior High School as the winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Pennsylvania’s 17th District. Their app ScholarSite is developed to consolidate many educational programs in different categories—such as scholarships, grants, courses, training programs, and summer programs—in one place, so that students and parents can see all the programs in one place, and filter them quickly and efficiently.
When asked what inspired the creation of ScholarSite, Kavin Puri said, “Like many of my peers, I have spent far too long poring over dozens of various websites, only to find 1 or 2 scholarships and other programs that met my requirements and needs. This method is by far the most common way for high schoolers nationwide to find these opportunities, which is a major issue because courses and summer programs can be crucial in facilitating a student’s passion in a particular field, while scholarships are instrumental for lowering financial boundaries for thousands of high schoolers all over the USA to seek higher education. Spending hours to find only a handful of programs and scholarships is not only extremely anti-user-friendly and causes people to look for fewer programs in the future, but it wastes not only our time but also our parents’ time, money, and effort as well.
‘This is the main reason why I created ScholarSite. ScholarSite takes all of the functionality & features of these common scholarship websites and integrates a highly quick and efficient method for students to find all of these opportunities. In addition to quickly filtering down these events based on interests and deadlines, students can do a plethora of things that simply aren’t possible on other ‘similar’ websites, from sending recommendations to bookmarking their favorite events to sharing these opportunities with others. ScholarSite was my way of giving back to my community by fixing issues that people all across the country and I have—and will continue—to face. By reducing the gap between students and these crucial and sometimes life-changing opportunities, this app holds the potential to help high schoolers with the same challenges as I had, one scholarship and program at a time.”
The 2025 Congressional App Challenge marked another record-setting year for the program. A total of 394 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives hosted App Challenges in their congressional districts, the highest level of participation in the program’s history. More than 13,800 students from across the country participated, submitting over 4,600 original apps focused on real-world challenges ranging from health and accessibility to education, sustainability, and civic engagement.
The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives that encourages middle school and high school students to learn to code, explore computer science, and build practical technology solutions for their communities. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and winning teams are invited to showcase their projects to Members of Congress, staff, and industry leaders at the annual #HouseOfCode celebration on Capitol Hill.
The Challenge is proudly bipartisan and reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to STEM education and preparing the next generation of American innovators for the future workforce. The program is a public-private partnership made possible through funding from the Broadcom Foundation, AWS, Infosys Foundation USA, theCoderSchool, Apple, and others.
The 2026 Congressional App Challenge will launch in May, and eligible students can pre-register for the competition now.
