Untroubled wins Rep. Ralph Norman’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge in South Carolina’s Fifth District

Rep. Ralph Norman has named Prashun Ghimire of Fort Mill High School as the winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in South Carolina’s Fifth District. Their app Untroubled is designed to help people manage their stress levels by using interactive quizzes.

When asked what inspired the creation of Untroubled, Prashun Ghimire said, “‘I’m so stressed,’ and ‘I’m so behind on my work’ are common phrases I hear as a high school student; to be honest, I say these statements from time to time myself. However, when I dug deeper into this issue, I realized it’s not just teenagers my age who are stressed. According to deconstructingstigma.org, more than 70% of people feel impacted either mentally or physically by stress.

“As a senior in high school, there is constantly so much going on around me, making everything increasingly hard to juggle. Students have to focus on college applications, homework, jobs, sports, and many other extracurricular activities. All these responsibilities can become too much to handle and can lead to mental and physical issues. Potential symptoms of stress can even include dizziness, headaches, low energy, and increased frustration.

“After so much time spent feeling overwhelmed and hearing my friends and family talk about being stressed, I decided to look up ways I could solve this issue. I found that monitoring your stress is a good start to actually improving stress-related problems, because once you’ve truly identified that you’re stressed, you can start implementing techniques to tackle the issue. Currently, in the market, you see lots of stress trackers in the form of smart watches or smart rings, but these solutions aren’t affordable for everyone, as prices for these devices range up to hundreds of dollars.

“Now, when thinking of an app, I remembered this conflict and believed I could build an app that could help monitor stress levels. I made sure to implement a very user-friendly interface so that it was as easy as possible to answer questions that result in an accurate measurement of your stress. As I built the app, I realized that a lot of stress can be caused by being overwhelmed by responsibilities and not managing your time properly. This influenced me to also add a time management section, so you could see one possible cause of your stress.

“I believe Untroubled can be a starting point in the process of reducing stress and managing time more efficiently.”

The 2025 Congressional App Challenge marked another record-setting year for the program. A total of 394 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives hosted App Challenges in their congressional districts, the highest level of participation in the program’s history. More than 13,800 students from across the country participated, submitting over 4,600 original apps focused on real-world challenges ranging from health and accessibility to education, sustainability, and civic engagement.

The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives that encourages middle school and high school students to learn to code, explore computer science, and build practical technology solutions for their communities. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and winning teams are invited to showcase their projects to Members of Congress, staff, and industry leaders at the annual #HouseOfCode celebration on Capitol Hill.

The Challenge is proudly bipartisan and reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to STEM education and preparing the next generation of American innovators for the future workforce. The program is a public-private partnership made possible through funding from the Broadcom Foundation, AWS, Infosys Foundation USA, theCoderSchool, Apple, and others.

The 2026 Congressional App Challenge will launch in May, and eligible students can pre-register for the competition now.
