CAC: How did participating in the Congressional App Challenge contribute to your personal journey, career path, and accomplishments so far?
BG: Winning the Congressional App Challenge was a pivotal moment for me. It gave me exposure and credibility on my island, which was a huge boost. It also served as a recognition of all the effort I had put into the project, and that recognition has been a major motivator in my career path so far.
CAC: Try to remember back to competing in the CAC – what was your app about and why did you create it?
BG: My app, called HurricaneStrong, was a direct response to the devastation a hurricane had caused on my island. The main purpose of the app was to create a decentralized way for people to receive help after a natural disaster. Instead of waiting for centralized government aid, the app would allow individuals to connect with others in their community to request or provide assistance. I wanted to use technology to empower people and help them get the aid they needed in a more efficient and direct way.
CAC: What are you most proud of in your academic or professional career thus far?
BG: What I’m most proud of is being able to provide opportunities that I didn’t have myself. It’s incredibly rewarding to help others achieve a new life and a brighter future through the training they received, knowing that I played a part in their success.
CAC: Let’s look into the future – where do you hope to be in 2035?
BG: What I’m most proud of is being able to provide opportunities that I didn’t have myself. It’s incredibly rewarding to help others achieve a new life and a brighter future through the training they received, knowing that I played a part in their success.
CAC: What excites you most about the future of technology and innovation?
BG: What excites me most about the future of technology and innovation is the integration of robots and humans in Industry 5.0. The advancements in AI and humanoid robotics are creating a world where technology doesn’t just automate tasks, but actively collaborates with people. This will allow us to create more efficient, personalized, and sustainable solutions.
