Sanskriti App wins Rep. Shontel Brown’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Ohio’s 11th District
Rep. Shontel Brown has named Aditya Samprathi of University School as the winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Ohio’s 11th District. Their app Sanskriti App is a comprehensive digital companion designed to help Indian immigrants confidently settle into their new lives in the United States.
When asked what inspired the creation of Sanskriti App, Aditya Samprathi said, “The inspiration behind creating the Sanskriti App came from my own family’s story and the experiences of countless Indian immigrants who have come to the United States looking for opportunity and a better life. My dad immigrated to the U.S. from India with just one hundred dollars in his pocket and a job waiting for him. He was excited and determined, but the journey was far from easy. Every small step, from finding housing to understanding how American banks and healthcare systems worked, was a challenge. He has told me stories about feeling lost in his new life, spending hours researching all the new systems and processes he had to go through to start making progress, and not having a quick and reliable way to get his questions answered.
“When I heard about this problem he faced, I began to realize how much effort and resilience it takes for immigrants to build a new life in a foreign country. Even today, many of those challenges are still relevant. I have seen friends of my family and new arrivals in our community face confusion about how to navigate simple but important things like credit, healthcare, taxes, and education. What stood out to me most was that these challenges were not due to a lack of intelligence, but a lack of clear, culturally relevant guidance and support systems.
“That realization sparked the idea for Sanskriti App. I wanted to create a tool that would have made my dad’s journey smoother and less stressful. I envisioned an app that could act as a digital guide, one that not only provided accurate information but also understood the cultural background and specific needs of Indian immigrants. I wanted it to be personal, supportive, and trustworthy, like a community in your pocket.
“Sanskriti was built due to the determination of people like my dad, and to make sure that future generations of immigrants can feel empowered, informed, and connected as they start their lives in the U.S. My goal is for Sanskriti to be more than just an app, but a symbol of hope and a bridge between two cultures that have so much to learn from each other.”
The 2025 Congressional App Challenge marked another record-setting year for the program. A total of 394 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives hosted App Challenges in their congressional districts, the highest level of participation in the program’s history. More than 13,800 students from across the country participated, submitting over 4,600 original apps focused on real-world challenges ranging from health and accessibility to education, sustainability, and civic engagement.
The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives that encourages middle school and high school students to learn to code, explore computer science, and build practical technology solutions for their communities. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and winning teams are invited to showcase their projects to Members of Congress, staff, and industry leaders at the annual #HouseOfCode celebration on Capitol Hill.
The Challenge is proudly bipartisan and reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to STEM education and preparing the next generation of American innovators for the future workforce. The program is a public-private partnership made possible through funding from the Broadcom Foundation, AWS, Infosys Foundation USA, theCoderSchool, Apple, and others.
The 2026 Congressional App Challenge will launch in May, and eligible students can pre-register for the competition now.
