Congressional App Challenge Announces Coding and Design Workshop Series with 2026 Presenting Sponsor Roblox
WASHINGTON — June 9, 2026 — The Congressional App Challenge, an annual, officially sanctioned STEM competition of the United States House of Representatives supporting middle and high school students learning to code and develop skills for STEM careers, today announced six local workshops across the United States, supported by 2026 presenting sponsor Roblox.
To ensure every student has the tools to participate, Roblox will provide participants with Roblox Studio, the platform’s free creation building tool, as well as creator tutorials and additional learning resources. The Congressional App Challenge will host six hands-on workshops across the country, where Roblox experts will help students turn their ideas into working games on the platform. Students can register to participate in these events after they have completed their challenge registration on the Congressional App Challenge website.
“At the Congressional App Challenge, our goal is to show students that anyone can learn to code and create technology that makes an impact,” said Joe Alessi, Executive Director of the Congressional App Challenge. “Roblox is helping make that vision a reality by providing students with powerful creation tools, AI-enabled resources and hands-on learning opportunities. We hope this partnership inspires thousands of young people to take their first step into computer science and game development.”
“Roblox has always believed the best way to learn is by doing,” said Adam Seldow, Roblox’s Senior Director of Education Policy. “We can’t wait to see the worlds this year’s students build, the games they program and the creativity they bring to the table.”
Students can now begin building and submitting their projects. While Roblox’s workshops and learning resources will be offered to all participants, they are not required to use the platform to build their apps. Each participating congressional district will host a local competition and select one winning submission. Winners will be invited to next year’s House of Code celebration in Washington, D.C., to demonstrate their creations to members of Congress.
