Next Week: Join Congress for #HouseOfCode on April 18th

Join Congress for #HouseOfCode Next Tuesday!

Join us next week for #HouseOfCode, the most prestigious demo day in student CS hosted by Congressional App Challenge! #HouseOfCode brings together nearly 300 App Challenge winners from across the country to the Capitol to show off their apps to lawmakers.  The App Challenge recognizes the outstanding achievements of top STEM students from all 50 states, highlighting the potential of the next generation of STEM leaders, and you’re invited to join the 2022 winners alongside Congress next week.

T

he Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives, where Members of Congress host contests in their districts for middle school and high school students, encouraging them to learn to code and inspiring them to pursue careers in computer science. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and each winning team is invited to showcase their winning app to Congress during our annual #HouseOfCode festival. Over 9,000 students from all 50 states created apps for 335 Members of Congress in 2022.

This year’s competition set the record for most student registrations, most apps submitted, most apps per district submitted, and most districts receiving over 20 apps. The wildly successful competition continues to impress upon House Members the importance of computer science education and the need to develop a pipeline of diverse, domestic STEM talent.

#HouseOfCode is the most prestigious demo day in student STEM, with over 100 Members of Congress expected to attend the two-day event. The general public will have the chance to interact directly with Members of Congress and their staffers, as well as network with other policy and tech leaders from around the country during Tuesday’s Winning App Demonstrations in the Capitol Visitor Center.

The general public is invited to view the Student App Demonstrations on Tuesday, April 18th at 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM ET. These demonstrations are split into Eastern and Western Cohorts – meaning there are two distinct groups of winners demonstrating during the course of the day.
Don’t miss the opportunity to connect with the brightest young minds in STEM and make a difference in the world of technology and innovation. You can check out the list of Members of Congress with winning demonstrations below:
