The House App Contest begins Saturday, February 1st, 2014!

About The House App Contest:

January 31 2014

Modeled after the Congressional Art Competition, the House App Contest promotes Computer Science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education by recognizing and incentivizing our nation’s young programming talent.

The House App Contest is open to all high school students in participating districts. The Inaugural App Contest will run from February 1 to April 30, 2014.

This new competition, which is hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives, is designed to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM education fields. It is a nationwide event that allows high school students from across the country to compete by creating and exhibiting their software application (“app”) for mobile, tablet, or other computing devices on a platform of their choice. Throughout the competition period, participating students will be provided opportunities to engage with various STEM educational partners, located within their own communities, to mentor and assist them with their app development.

ABOUT THE CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE COALITION:

The Congressional App Challenge Coalition proudly serves as the official STEM advisor to the House of Representatives’ House App Contest. We applaud the leaders of the House of Representatives who have pledged to inspire students in their districts by hosting Congressional app challenges. We encourage you to join them as they challenge students to compete against each other in app design and programming, and to provide Members of the Congress the opportunity to encourage and recognize the technical and creative talents of their young constituents.
