Congressional App Challenge Announces #HouseOfCode 2026 at the U.S. Capitol!

The Congressional App Challenge is thrilled to announce that the 2026 edition of #HouseOfCode will take place April 21st and 22nd, 2026, at the United States Capitol. This premier event will bring together the brightest young tech innovators from across the country to celebrate their achievements in the 2025 Congressional App Challenge.

#HouseOfCode serves as the ultimate celebration of student creativity and technological innovation, showcasing the incredible talent of young people who are shaping the future of technology. The event typically features a full day of student app demonstrations, opportunities for students to connect with one another and with industry leaders, and moments of recognition alongside Members of Congress who support the Congressional App Challenge. #HouseOfCode brings the first-place-winning app from every congressional district to Capitol Hill, and the student demonstrations are open to the public to see America’s next generation of innovators in action in the halls of Congress. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore winning apps, meet the students behind the creations, and hear their stories firsthand. Each year, hundreds of Members of Congress engage with the event. Last year, the Congressional App Challenge welcomed 360 winning students from more than 220 Congressional Districts to Washington, D.C.

#HouseOfCode is a dynamic platform for collaboration, inspiration, and recognition. In addition to celebrating the winners, the event provides opportunities for tech leaders, educators, and policymakers to connect and support these future innovators.

About the Congressional App Challenge

The CAC is an initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives, where Members of Congress host contests in their districts for middle school and high school students, encouraging them to learn to code and inspiring them to pursue careers in computer science. The non-profit Internet Education Foundation provides the CAC with supplemental staffing and support. In the nine years of the Congressional App Challenge, the program has yielded over 83,000 App Challengers across all 50 states. Thousands of functional apps have been created for Congress, and participant demographics surpass all industry diversity metrics.
